I just read the Goku vs Cell fight, and noticed that Cell, even fighting Gohan, doesn't mention nor implies he increased his power; just speed. So believing in non-linear growth, when Cell recovered his ki, do you believe he increased his power as well? But remember, no one notices Cell increasing his power beyond what he used on Goku. |

I think his power increased with his speed. When someone increases their power do they have to mention it increased their speed as well? No, it's just assumed. What Cell's concern was is that Gohan was too fast. Hey you are too fast, ok let me show you the real speed I have. I think it's the same. |

İndeed. Cell did need to hit Gohan one way or another, its not like his power is going to stay the same. |

Look at the fight Vegeta had with Freeza. It's similar enough. Vegeta was implied to have some kind of chance until Freeza raised his speed. Once that happened, Vegeta was toast. Did Freeza's power raise with his speed? It's not implied in my opinion, since he even specified that his speed was the big factor for why Vegeta was at such a disadvantage then. |

Simple solution, Cell was at a slight advantage over Goku but was holding back his speed for sport. Vs. Gohan, he increased it to its max at that level. |

Yes I think Freeza increased his speed and power. They work together. Why wouldn't he? |

Why wouldn't he then attribute his overwhelming advantage to his power, instead of his speed? |

Its the same thing. How many times do they talk about power. We automatically assume the speed goes up with it right? Why when its reversed? And Freeza mentions his speed because that is what he is using to dodge Vegeta. He is out speeding him. Then when Vegeta uses his blasts he shows him the power. Edited by p123, Jun 6 2014, 12:14 AM.

Well Cell was able to hurt Gohan so I would assume he powered up at least a little. |

He would have to. Cell ( vs Goku ) was significantly weaker and slower than Gohan. His punches wouldn't have much of an effect. Gohan was dodging and blocking his quite easily. Gohan didn't even think Goku vs Cell was all out and thought he could keep up no problem. Cell ( vs Goku ) is probably only 80-85% of Gohan. |

The simple explanation was that he was holding his ki back. Goku was seen to do this in the Freeza Arc against Recoome, Jeice, and Burter. He'd stay suppressed, but then unsuppress his ki at the moment of attack before suppressing it again. This sudden burst was too fast for scouters to read or even for people to sense. |

I don't think Cell hurt Gohan. It's stated as such as after Gohan is pushed into the rocks. Cell was just able to finally land his attacks, not inflict damage. |

Cell absolutely inflicted damage. But one combo shouldn't drop anyones ki if they are on equal levels. And yes the Assasin is right. He was just holding it back, he always had it before. Freeza did this several times and Cell did it several times. |

He bloodied Gohan's forehead. It's stated Gohan's ki didn't change at all from Cell's assault, even though Cell himself believed Gohan was finished, and he wasn't fighting back at that point. Cell looked like he was doing damage but he really wasn't. Gohan was just that much stronger. Edited by Pyrus, Jun 6 2014, 02:47 AM.

Well Cell's ki didn't drop after Goku landed a nice combo on his either. They were worried about Gohan being killed. Gohan getting physically hurt but not killed just means he is strong. The context of the quote is to show the Z Team that hey Gohan really is that strong. Which seems a bit absurd since they can all sense ki and just understood he was stronger than Goku. It's just that he's the baby and going against the big bad after father realized he couldn't hang with him. |
